Gill Blow’s award winning short stories have been broadcast on Radio 4 and published in several literary magazines.
In 2013 Gill adapted several of her stories for the stage and with two actors and a small crew created The Workhouse Players to produce and perform a selection of her monologues and duologues for the amateur stage. Since then the company has grown and performed successfully many times in theatres and other venues, including cafes and village halls, to audiences who fully appreciate the unique productions and the huge variety and depth of each story. Actors have gained remarkable skills in rehearsing and performing their complex and demanding roles as storytellers.
The timing of each play is approximately 15mins – 20 mins. Seven or eight short plays selected from this collection will give a diverse and entertaining evening or matinee performance. It is suggested that staging is minimal to reduce the stage setting time between each play and the use of effective lighting and sound is recommended.
